I absolutely love going to restaurants with plant-based options that are 1. Easy to find on the menu and 2. Made to be delicious like this amazing curried chickpea soup from @avocadocafesa. Too often I end up at a place where I have to struggle to find something edible and end up ordering a bowl of fruit for lunch, or the only options are merely there to check off a box and don’t taste good at all, or I go somewhere that has vegan options listed on their menu, but they’re unavailable or discontinued when I show up (*ahem* @tbdbarsocialsa & their no-longer-available impossible burger).
.
The funny part is that I’ve never been a picky eater and only recently has it been difficult to find food options wherever I go. I was vegetarian for awhile before going vegan and it was super easy to find food (default option used to be a grilled cheese). But now I have to prepare by going to places I know have great plant-based meals (shout out to @chipotle) or piece together ingredients in my head in order to ask for a special order at a place I haven’t been to before. Now my typical breakfast taco order always confuses Tex-Mex servers (a breakfast taco with ONLY potatoes, pico, and avocado).
.
Hopefully having plenty of these healthy options at restaurants will become more mainstream as people realize the benefits of incorporating more plant-based meals into their diets and businesses see a demand for it.
